The England tour of the 9th class

by Charlie Steinbart and Benjamin Weidhaas, class 9a

On Sunday  4th September 2016, at   10 pm, twenty-seven students, four teachers and a bus driver started their trip excitedly and looking forward to London.

During our journey we drove through Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and France to come to Calais. We were on our way for about 14 hours with a few breaks.
As we arrived in Calais on Monday, we had to wait at the port 30 minutes and then we crossed the Channel by ferry. From the ferry we had a great view on the sea and a couple of cities. After arriving at Dover we went on to Canterbury. In Canterbury we walked through the old town and had some time for having lunch and visiting the city on our own. At 5 pm we went by bus to London. This lasted 2 hours. Finally our host parents were introduced to us and we were divided into different groups. When we arrived at our London home our host mum showed us the house and we had dinner. It was very tasty, because it was chicken from KFC.
On Tuesday at half past six we had to get up, like every day because the breakfast was at seven o`clock and at half past seven we had to be back at the bus. Mostly we had cornflakes and toast for breakfast. This day we saw the city center during a sightseeing tour. Then we visited the Tower of London, it was breathtaking, beautiful and great. Three hours later, we went by ship along the Thames to Big Ben, another great sight of London. For dinner we had Spaghetti Bolognese.
On Wednesday we went to Madame Toussaud’s and saw many great and famous wax figures. Then we went to Covent Garden Market for some shopping. We went to Buckingham Palace in the afternoon and took a couple of great photos. In the vicinity of Big Ben our bus picked us up and brought us home. For dinner there was Indian curry with rice.

Our last day in England was Thursday. After breakfast we said goodbye to the host parents. First our bus brought us to Camden Town. There were many small markets. In Camden we had lunch at Burger King. Then we went by underground to Westminster. From there we had a walk to the London Eye. There we spent our free time in little groups. The flight on the London Eye was 30 minutes long but it felt like 5 minutes. It was so beautiful. When the flight had ended we walked to McDonalds and had our last food in London. At 8:15 pm our bus driver picked us up. After the ferry crossing we started the bus trip home to our school.

That was our trip to England and we must say that this trip was very nice. You can make so much stuff in London what you can’t do in Germany.
